Working in line with its mission to effectively serve all specialized and diverse needs of the medical community, the Scientific and Medical Supplies Division recently carried out a decontamination process using the Biogiene Bio-Decontamination Machine which they had previously launched in the 3rd Civil Defence Exhibition 2011. The process required the Business Development Manager at Tadmur Trading to give up his office for 5 hours. Miss Shatha Khamis (Product Specialist) then carried out the decontamination process as a demonstration to the rest of the team in the Scientific and Medical Supplies Division. Below is a copy of the report generated after the experiment was carried out.
Introduction Tadmur Trading Ltd. in partnership with STERIS Corporation conducted a live demonstration of the STERIS BioGienie bio-decontamination system utilizing Hyproxil chemistry (6% H2O2 with 60ppm Silver anions). A live cycle was performed on Wednesday 11th January in Tadmur Trading office, Qatar using chemical and biological indicators. The chemical indicators used were a STERIS prototype. Biological Indicators were SGM Geobacillus stearothermophilus spores with a population of 1.7 x 103, lot number HP-85.
Room volume – 90 m3 Dose 1 – 6ml/m3 Injection rate – 45ml/minute Flow time – 30 minutes Contact time – 180 minutes 4 BIs paired with 4 CIs, used with positive and negative controls.
Method 1. Chemical Indicators (CIs) and Biological Indicators (BIs) were paired and placed throughout the room at regular intervals and recorded on a room plan. Multiple heights and positions were tested to present a challenge to the bio-decontamination process. Chemical indicators used were a prototype Albert Browne H2O2 indicator. 2. Biological Indicators were sourced from APEX Laboratories, an independent supplier of SGM Biotech Inc. with a calibrated population of 103 Geobacillus stearothermophilus spores. 3. Culture media used was STERIS Spordex (NA114). 4. Incubation was at 55oC until a clear change in media was observed in tested and control samples.
Test Results 1. CIs in all positions showed a good colour change indicating a good distribution of H202 vapour at good concentration levels. 2. Positive controls at each population density showed growth 12 hours following exposure. All test indicators showed negative growth. After 24 hours, the test indicators continued to show negative growth. Samples remained in incubation for a further 5 days to ensure complete, permanent kill. 3. Temperature at start of cycle 20 Degrees Celsius rising to 21 Degrees Celsius at the end of the cycle. 4. The relative Humidity in the beginning of the cycle 54% rising to 59% at the end of the cycle.
Conclusions CI results are suggestive of excellent H2O2 concentration levels being achieved throughout the room. These initial results were consistent with excellent microbiological kill levels as evidenced by the Biological Indicator challenges used to validate the decontamination process.
ITT XYLEM AND TADMUR TRADING WATER SYSTEMS TRAINING.
The 18th of January 2012 brought together the Water Systems Division of Tadmur Trading and ITT Xylem, the world’s leading supplier of Submersible Pump, Mixer and Aeration Solutions to the Tadmur Holdings Conference Room for a Full Day Training in Experior Pumps. The training was jointly conducted by Fredrick Gatu (Project Manager Wastewater Pumps), Martin Larsson (Application Engineer), Tony Scowen (Business Development Director), Hanna Samuelson (Support Engineer) and Synneve Henningson (Business Developer) from Sweden.
DEWATERING SEMINAR On the 30th of November 2011, the Water Systems Division of Tadmur Trading in conjunction with Xylem, the world’s leading supplier of submersible pump, mixer and aeration solutions conducted a Dewatering Seminar in the Marriot Hotel. The Seminar began with Mr. Walter McKinley (Business Development Manager) re-introducing ITT Xylem which was formerly known as ITT Flygt. In his brief introduction, he assured those present that the new name Xylem only solidified the company’s objective of being the top in fluid technology applications and water solutions. The first half of the Seminar was duly conducted by Mr. Hansen (Product Manager BU Dewatering). Mr. Hansen gave a comprehensive overview of the different types of pumps that Xylem has to offer to the industry. With a level of great enthusiasm, he explicitly outlined the importance of optimization of dewatering operations and how Xylem can ensure it is achieved at reduced costs. The second half of the Seminar was conducted by Mr. Paolo Luise (Market Development Manager EMEA). Important concepts discussed by Mr. Paolo included conditions where different dewatering methods are effective, practical applications of dewatering for construction sites and finally the introduction of Godwin pumps. Mr. Paolo expertly described how the Godwin Diesel Engine Pumps operated using a simple mechanism involving the use of compressed air. Attendees of the Seminar included Mechanical Engineers from Ashgal, HBK Contracting, Parsons International Limited and Gulf Tunneling Co. among a list of 30 other consultants from well known companies in Doha.
Mr. Mohamed Abdulla Farag (Operation and Project Manager) for the Scientific and Medical Supplies Division was awarded Employee of the Year 2011 during the Annual Tadmur Holding Dinner at La Cigale.
Tadmur Trading w.l.l. recently participated in the 3rd Annual Civil Defense Exhibition and Conference that took place during 14th November to 16th November 2011 at the Doha International Exhibition Center. The three-day event hosted 93 exhibitors and was inaugurated by HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Chief of the Emiri Diwan Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah.
The Scientific and Medical Supplies Division in conjunction with Steris launched the Biogiene Bio-Decontamination Machine. Committed to effectively serve all specialized and diverse needs of the medical community, Tadmur Trading used this event as a platform to pioneer the use of the Biogiene Hydrogen Peroxide disinfectant system in clinical settings where the need of decontamination can never be over-emphasized. Coordinated by the Scientific and Medical Supplies team, our stand offered an interactive experience to all our visitors. All visitors were received with warm and readily apparent enthusiasm from our highly dedicated team of Exhibitors.
Mr Fayrouz Shaikh, Divisional Manager of the Scientific and Medical Supplies in Tadmur Trading was keen to highlight that the system uses Hyproxil Active disinfectant cartridges combining just six per cent hydrogen peroxide with colloidal silver; an aspect that to offers a high level of bio-protection not just to clinical settings, but to aero planes in addition. Furthermore, the division also proudly announced the launch of their new contract services which would entail a team of our specialized employees decontaminating Clinics, laboratories, Clean Rooms and Ambulances upon request thus providing our customers with the option of enjoying the benefits of the service without the expense of purchasing the machine.
To our esteemed customers that weren’t able to attend the Exhibition, more information related to the purchase and/or use of the Biogiene Bio-Decontamination machine may be requested from:
